MANCHESTER UNITED may already have a ready-made replacement for David De Gea in Dean Henderson.

The Spaniard is believed to be closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain after rejecting yet another huge contract offer from the Red Devils, revealed exclusively by SunSport.

His contract expires next summer forcing the club to cash in now or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months time.

It could urge boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to delve into the transfer market and splash out on a new stopper - or give the gig to Sergio Romero.

But it may be well worth taking a closer look at Henderson following his loan spell away from Old Trafford at Sheffield United.

The 22-year-old Englishman was instrumental in the Blades' promotion to the Premier League having featured in all of their league matches.

Chris Wilder's team would love him back - and the stats show he enjoyed a much better season than the out-of-form De Gea.

He kept an impressive 21 clean sheets meaning he didn't concede in 45.7 per cent of his matches.

De Gea only kept seven throughout the entire campaign and he conceded 13 more goals than Henderson despite playing eight fewer games, although admittedly against a much better level of competition.

Man United's leaky defence did De Gea no favours but he can be held accountable for numerous errors including two against Man City and one crucial one against Barcelona in the Champions League.

He faced 174 shots on target compared to Henderson's 152 but his save percentage proves that his standards dipped.

Henderson kept out 73 per cent of his shots faced while De Gea saved 69 per cent.

United will surely judge Henderson's pre-season before deciding whether to pull out the chequebook.

Particularly after they reportedly had a £35million bid rejected for Ajax stopper Andre Onana.

And another goalkeeping target, Jasper Cillessen, is reportedly on the verge of joining Benfica.
