BRENDAN RODGERS is considering a reunion with his former Celtic livewire Patrick Roberts at Leicester.
The Manchester City winger, 22, only has a year remaining on his Etihad contract and could be allowed to leave this summer.
He has just ended a season-long loan with Spanish side Girona in disappointment following the club’s relegation from La Liga.
And his cut-price £4m valuation has made him a tempting option for Rodgers as he looks to inject yet more pace into his attack alongside James Maddison and Jamie Vardy.
But the Foxes boss could face competition from his old employers north of the border with the Scottish champions also keen to bring the youngster back to Parkhead.
Rodgers has already recruited his trusted transfer guru Lee Congerton from Celtic to Leicester as head of recruitment.
And Roberts is well-known to both men as they plan their summer business at the King Power.
Celtic are yet to announce who their new manager will be as Neil Lennon's caretaker stint comes to an end this weekend.
And the Foxes may pounce on that uncertainty to beat the Bhoys in the chase for the forward.
Roberts burst onto the scene aged 17 at Fulham and made his Premier League debut in March 2014.
He followed that up by helping England to the U17 European Championship that summer before City swooped a year later.
After just a handful of appearances he joined Celtic on an 18-month loan in January 2016, which was later extended by another season.
Roberts’ exciting displays made him a huge fan favourite as he helped them to two titles under Rodgers.
He also shone in the Champions League, producing a stunning solo goal in a man of the match performance against parent club City.
But Roberts has been unable to build on that momentum in Spain and could not stop Girona’s slide to the drop.
After relegation was confirmed last weekend, the attacker wrote on Instagram: “Thank you to everyone @gironafc for all the support you have shown me in what has been a difficult season.
“I wish you nothing but success for the future!”
