MANCHESTER UNITED have been linked with a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
United have been forced to start considering a new number one after SunSport exclusively revealed David De Gea snubbed the latest contract offer they made to him.
The Spanish keeper is still stalling on committing his long-term future to Old Trafford with the club having failed to have qualified for the Champions League.
And United now face a decision on whether to sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing when the final year of his contract runs out next year.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already planning a major overhaul of his squad during the close season after the sixth-place finish in the Premier League.
But until now a goalkeeper had not been part of his plans.
REPLACEMENT
Now there is the real prospect of De Gea leaving, so Italian international Donnarumma has come into the frame as a possible replacement.
United do have Sergio Romero waiting in the wings to step up to becoming regular first team number one.
But the Argentine may not be the answer for Solskjaer, who understood to be casting his eyes around Europe for an alternative.
Donnarumma, 20, has been touted as one of the best keepers in the world after breaking into the Milan and national team as a teenager.
