RANGERS star Graham Dorrans was knocked unconscious in an attack outside a bar in Ibiza after claims he acted as peacemakers when a fight broke out.
The midfielder, 32, was assaulted outside popular Scottish bar The Highlander on Thursday night after images appeared on social media of the football ace lying on the ground surrounded by concerned bystanders.
The Gers midfielder, 32, was holidaying on the party island with team-mate Ryan Jack and their wives before the horror incident on Ibiza's West End, a strip famous for it's bars and nightclubs.
Sources have now claimed the ex-Norwich City star was trying to defuse a heated exchange between the two WAGs - Yvonne and Ashleigh - and a fellow Scot when he was injured.
Reports suggest he was acting as a peacemaker in a row and was punched from behind by a Scottish man arguing with his wife Yvonne as he walked away.
An insider told the Scottish Sun Online: "There was an argument involving the two women and some bloke from Dundee.
"Graham basically went over to act as peacemaker.
"But when they tried to leave the guy's taken a run at him and pushed him from behind."
Eyewitnesses earlier claimed Dorrans was knocked out with a single blow outside the pub.
Pictures showed the footballer wearing striped shorts and a dark shirt lying on the ground with medical teams surrounding him.
Dorrans was snapped along with team-mate Ryan Jack, 27, and their partners at the trendy Ocean Beach club in San Antonio, earlier on that day.
Onlookers who dialled 999 told ambulance workers he was out cold after the Light Blues star was knocked out after hitting his head on the ground.
Our source said: "He couldn't get his hands out quickly enough to break his fall and he's cracked his head on the ground.
"It was a really sore and he was knocked out for a bit. He started to come round and he was conscious when he was taken away in an ambulance.
"They would normally go to Dubai at the end of the season but decided to go to Ibiza for a couple of days. Now they'll probably be wishing they hadn't.
"There's been lots of stuff going about on social media but Graham's not much of a drinker and he definitely wasn't bottled."
The local ambulance service was alerted with a 999 call at just after 12.15am this morning and Spanish sources said Dorrans had been taken to the health centre - known locally as the SUAP de San Antonio - rather than a hospital.
A source said: “The casualty was unconscious at first and was taken by ambulance to a health centre in San Antonio.”
Spanish sources confirmed the footballer received stitches for a head wound before being sent home.
A medical source said: “He was seen at the SUAP in San Antonio for a wound to his scalp which required stitches and then he was discharged.
Local police and Civil Guard said they had no information on the incident, making it likely no arrests were made in the aftermath of the incident.
Ibrox pals Dorrans and Jack jetted off to Spain with their other halves after the end of the season last Sunday.
Midfield ace Jack's wife Ashleigh shared a snap on social media at trendy Ocean Beach club in San Antonio just hours before the attack.
She captioned it: "Jack / Dorrans take Ibiza".
Ashleigh Jack - wife of ace Ryan - had also replied to The Highlander's Twitter account saying they would be attending later that night.
Pictures later show a man in matching clothes lying injured on the ground.
Another shows the man receiving treatment from medics.
An eyewitness tweeted: "I didn't see what happened before it but it spilled out the door.
"GD got floored and was knocked clean out.
"The guy ran off with folk chasing him, a glass/bottle was thrown at the guy after.
"Whoever threw the punch knew how to throw a punch, was savage."
Rangers and the Highlander Bar have been approached for comment.
Dorrans started his career with Livingston before moving to English outfit West Brom in 2008.
After seven years at the club he joined Norwich City on loan before making a permanent switch.
He joined Rangers in 2017 but has rarely featured this season through injury.
