And Elland Road supporters quickly taunted the Chelsea legend on social media- taking revenge for his complaints over Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa "spying" on them training.

Leeds fans had composed a "Stop Crying Frank Lampard!" song after his protests, only for the ex-England star to sing it himself in the dressing room when celebrating Derby's win over Bielsa's men.

So Leeds supporters pounced on Lampard's misery today.

Many simply tweeted the name of the song, while others came up with new lyrics to mock him.

One said: "Aston Villa will sing that "Stop Crying Frank Lampard" song and it's going to hurt him deeply."

Another asked: "Am I OK to sing stop crying Frank Lampard again?"

One of the more succinct songs was this effort: "Cause all of your team is moving away. We see you crying down Wembley Way. Bielsa exposed all your team. And made you a meme. STOP CRYING FRANK LAMPARD😢 #lufc #dcfc"

Most of the tweets showed again how many people almost seem to relish others' lows as much as their own (or their team's) highs.

And a prime example of this was: "Come on, Sky. Show me a crying Lampard/Keogh so I can turn this sh*t off."
