Germany boss Joachim Low to miss Euro 2020 qualifiers after dropping dumbbell on his chest

GERMANY boss Joachim Low will miss his country's next two European Championship qualifiers after dropping a dumbbell on his chest.

The 2014 World Cup-winning coach is set to skip their game in Belarus and match against Estonia in just over a week.

Low, 59, has handed the reins to assistant Marcus Sorg and Andreas Kopke for the matches.

He was training when the weight training incident happened and suffered internal chest injuries.

Low said: "I feel very well again, but I still have to rest a bit in the next four weeks.

"I'm in constant contact with my coaching team, and we'll be in close contact with each other around the two international matches.

"And Marcus Sorg, Andy Köpke and Oliver Bierhoff have a lot of experience together, and together we'll manage this short break well."

Northern Ireland are currently the top team in Group C of the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Germany have only played one game though, beating Holland 3-2 in an Amsterdam thriller in March.

The return game against Ronald Koeman's resurgent Dutch is set for September, days before the Mannschaft head to Belfast.
