WAITING GAME

Man Utd make £9m-a-year offer to Rabiot but PSG rebel fancies Liverpool move and will make them sweat

MANCHESTER UNITED face a nervous wait as they try to shore up their fragile midfield with a move for wantaway PSG star Adrien Rabiot.

The 24-year-old France international is out of contract at the Ligue 1 champions this summer and is pushing for a move to the Premier League.

United were thought to be favourites to land his signature having tabled an offer worth £9million a year with a reported signing bonus of £4.5m.

Rabiot is yet to respond to the offer and, despite interest from Everton, the midfielder is thought to have his eyes on another Merseyside club.

Reports in France suggest he is a big admirer of Steven Gerrard and wants to play for Liverpool, who lifted the Champions League trophy on Saturday night.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is yet to make an offer, leaving his United counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sweat as he looks to reshape his squad for the new season.

Rabiot fell out of favour in Paris last season after refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Boss Thomas Tuchel played hard ball, limiting him to just 20 appearances and leaving him out of the squad altogether since December.

Rabiot had offers from Barcelona and Tottenham in January but his salary demands proved too much even for those European heavyweights.

Solskjaer has prioritised signing a midfielder this summer after the departure of Ander Herrera, who is moving the other way to PSG.
