DAN JAMES has opened up about the loss of his father with the Manchester United transfer target vowing to make him proud.
The Swansea winger wrote an emotional message on Instagram to pay tribute to dad Kavan following his sudden death last month.
James, 21, was close to a £15million move to Old Trafford before the personal tragedy.
He posted the moving words with four pictures of him and his dad together: "There is not one day goes by that I don't miss you, you are my inspiration and I wouldn't be where I am today without you.
"I couldn't be prouder as a son. You have never pushed me into anything I didn't want to, you always wanted me to do what makes me happy.
"Words can't describe the pain I'm feeling now.
"I just want you to know how much I love you and how much you will be missed by all of us.
"You put a smile on everyone's faces with your silly jokes and never failed to make anyone laugh.
"Thank you for everything you have ever done for me I couldn't ask for anyone better, I will make you proud I promise!
"RIP Dad."
James received support to his social media post late on Sunday night from Wales team-mates Harry Wilson, Chris Mepham, Ethan Ampadu and Connor Roberts.
DAN RETURN
The rapid wideman has been named in Ryan Giggs' squad for the forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary.
James missed Wales' training camp in Portugal last week after he was given time to grieve by the United legend.
Wales are due to meet up on Monday ahead of the away double-header and Giggs will make a check on James' availability.
James called him last week to say he wanted to play but the date of his dad's funeral at that time was not known.
But Giggs said last Wednesday: "It's terrible what happened. For me football comes second in these situations and it’s a case of whatever you chose, Dan.
"I've spoken to him and he said: "Listen, gaffer, I want you to keep me in mind for the games.'

"He's really keen to meet up and be involved in the two games and as a manager it's great for me to have him considering what he's done in the last six months.
"He didn't know what date the funeral is. I said to him if you have to go back or meet up a little bit later, then we'll just play it by ear.
"He's going to call me when he knows the date. Yes, he could still not make it. Once we know when it is we'll touch base and see what is best."
