Antoine Griezmann in limbo over future after revealing plans to leave Atletico Madrid for Barcelona
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN is in a state of limbo after admitting he doesn't know when he will be able to find a new club.
Griezmann announced last month that he would be leaving Atletico Madrid after five years with the club.
The Spanish club grew tired of the uncertainty over the playmaker's future despite only signing a new deal last summer - and effectively made his decision for him by telling him he could go.
That left Barcelona in prime position to snap up the 28-year-old Frenchman, having come close to clinching his services 12 months before.
But there are some at the Nou Camp who need convincing to push the boat out financially to sign a player who went back on his promise to join them last year.
And Barca are also likely to be restricted in the amount they spend on new players this summer, having already signed Frenkie de Jong in a deal worth £60million.
LIMITATIONS
They are also heavily linked with a bid of a similar size to snatch De Jong's Ajax and Holland team-mate Matthijs de Ligt.
With Barcelona not a certain bidder, Griezmann faces the prospect of having to see if any of the other big clubs across Europe would be interested.
Paris Saint-Germain have shown some interest, although they have financial limitations of their own in order to comply with the FFP regulations.
While Premier League clubs would all love a player of his ability, the kind of package it would take to pay Atletico a fee of £106million and come up with wages in excess of £300,000-a-week also makes such transfer difficult.

And for the time being, Griezmann himself admits he is not quite sure what will happen next.
Speaking to after playing for France in a 2-0 friendly win over Bolivia, Griezmann said: "I do not know when my future will be resolved.
"It is a good question, but everything will come in its time."
