Celtic want Phil Jagielka following veteran defender’s release from Everton
CELTIC are interested in landing Phil Jagielka following his Everton release.
The 36-year-old centre-back left Goodison Park earlier this week - but is not hanging up his boots yet.
And the Scottish champions will follow up a failed attempt to land him in January by looking into making him part of Neil Lennon’s squad next season.
Jagielka made just seven appearances last season and Celtic were interested in giving him the chance to earn regular football in the second half of the season.
But Marco Silva wanted to keep him on Merseyside to make sure his defence was not short on numbers.
The 40-cap former England international could interest a number of clubs looking at adding experience to their ranks - but Celtic are firmly in the frame too.

Blades manager Chris Wilder is keen to add some Premier League experience to his squad and could attempt to bring the veteran back to Bramall Lane, where he played for seven years from 2000.
Jagielka signed for Everton in 2007 and was crowned their Player of the Season in the 2008-09 season and again six years later.
He admitted as he called tiemon his Goodison Park career: "Unfortunately my journey at Everton has come to an end after 12 fantastic seasons, I have been lucky enough to play over 380 games and lucky enough to be club captain for six years.”
