West Ham line up improved £15m bid for Alaves defender Guillermo Maripan as Manuel Pellegrini eyes six summer transfers

WEST HAM are considering an improved offer for Alaves defender Guillermo Maripan after an opening £13.5milion bid was rejected.
Manuel Pellegrini is keen to sign his fellow Chilean as part of a major shake-up of his Hammers squad this summer.
The powerful 25-year-old impressed during last year’s World Cup finals and was one of La Liga’s most consistent defenders last season.
Alaves paid just £3milion to sign Maripan from Chilean club Universidad Catolica two years ago but are determined to get maximum profit for the player.
And even though West Ham have just let them have striker Lucas Perez for a knock-down £2million, they are not about to reciprocate the favour.
