MANS ON TOUR

Solskjaer ready to make flops put in hard yards in pre-season… with Man Utd travelling 5,000 miles more than nearest Prem rival

While United head to Australia and China this summer, Watford are travelling just 30 miles from Vicarage Road

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to put in the hard yards this summer - travelling 5,000 miles FURTHER than any of their rivals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are set to rack up close to 20,000 air miles in just three weeks, playing friendlies in Australia, Singapore and China.

The club are set to play Perth Glory and Leeds United, as well as Inter Milan, AC Milan and Tottenham.

Former boss Jose Mourinho frequently complained about the long distances his squad were expected to travel when travelling across the US last summer.

He described the trip as "very bad" and said the lack of rest would impact negatively on his Manchester United players - which it did.

There have been no such complaints from Solskjaer - yet - although he will surely be wishing his travel schedule was similar to Watford's.

As it stands, Javi Gracia's Hornets will only travel 30 miles - although that is likely to increase with the club set to go back to Austria for a training camp.

That is the most extreme example, but United (19,845 miles total) will still be travelling a lot more than any of their rivals.

Tottenham (14,815m) are their nearest travellers but are a full 5,030 miles behind.

That's almost the distance for a single trip from Manchester to party capital Las Vegas, a 10hr 45min flight.
