He scored just 15 times while falling out of favour with new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Conte was desperate to land the big striker while he was at Chelsea two years ago.

But instead, he opted to quit Everton for Old Trafford, leaving the former Blues boss to sign flop Alvaro Morata.

And now the Italian coach wants the £75million hitman to spearhead his new San Siro attack next season.

Lukaku bagged a double as Belgium beat Scotland last night - he is his country's all-time leading goalscorer with 48 in just 81 matches.

And after the win, the forward was full of praise for the new Inter coach.

Lukaku told : "Good that Conte went to Inter, for me, he is the best coach in the world.

"As for my future, I have already made a decision that I still cannot communicate publicly out of respect for Manchester United with whom I have a contract.

"I am a big Serie A fan, those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian one, I love Italy.

"And then Cristiano Ronaldo arrived, Sarri will go to Juventus, Ancelotti is at Napoli, it will be an exciting Serie A.

"The club and my agent will talk about it but I have already made my decision."
