Denis Suarez ‘wasn’t even 50 per cent fit’ when he signed for Arsenal as Barcelona star opens up on Gunners nightmare

DENIS SUAREZ has admitted he was not even 50 per cent fit when he turned up for his torrid loan spell at Arsenal.

Gunners chief Unai Emery scooped up the playmaker, who he worked with at Sevilla, from Barcelona in January.

But he played in just two Premier League matches in a massive flop.

Suarez, 25, told Spanish Radio station Cadena SER: "I'm still recovering from the injury, I'm practically fully recovered.

"On the 16th day of arriving at Arsenal I was not even 50 per cent, it was a year to forget but also to learn.

"I have been in Barcelona for two months recovering from the injury and nobody from Barca has told me anything."

Suarez's Prem switch failed but with a position in the Barca midfield unlikely, he is eyeing a swap to another La Liga outfit.

Valencia have been linked and the ace is keen to link up with Marcelino again.

Suarez told El Larguero. "What I want is to leave Barca and play.

"My goal is to stay in the Spanish league.

"Marcelino is the best coach I've ever had. I speak regularly with him.

"It's not true that I rejected Valencia. Valencia have never shown any interest in signing me as they are doing now."
