Man Utd boost as former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says Paul Pogba transfer is ‘not easy’
MANCHESTER UNITED were handed a major boost as former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon labelled any Paul Pogba transfer difficult.
Pogba, 26, has failed to justify his £89million price-tag since rejoining United from Juventus in the summer of 2016.
The Frenchman’s future has been the subject of much speculation and he is on Real’s wishlist along with Christian Eriksen although they have wrapped up a deal for Eden Hazard.
Although he flourished under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finishing last season with 16 goals and 11 assists to boot, the transfer rumours haven’t evaporated.
SunSport revealed that Juventus have already made "first contact" to sign the World Cup winner.
But Calderon doesn’t necessarily envisage Pogba pitching up in the Spanish capital in the next couple of months.
He told Sky Sports: “It's not easy. A player like that, Manchester United are not going to [let him] go without a lot of money.
"I know they have been talking about £170m.
“It's an opportunity but Manchester United have to wait because the player has a contract until 2021.
"Knowing he is an important player who is young, and knowing that Zidane is continually asking for him,
they can wait in the office for a lot of money in a suitcase.
"That's if they want to sell him, and also the player has the last word.
“I don't know if he wants to leave."
