Man Utd misfit Pogba would be ‘risky and dangerous’ signing for Real Madrid, warns ex-president Calderon
REAL MADRID have been warned that signing Paul Pogba would be “dangerous” for team unity.
Zinedine Zidane’s outfit is looking to bring the Manchester United midfielder to the Bernabeu after confirming he wants a new challenge.
But while Real aim to negotiate a fee for Pogba, the Spanish giants’ former president Ramon Calderon has urged caution.
Calderon, 68, told SunSport: “I think it is risky. It’s dangerous because he has proven his behaviour is not the best in some moments for a club like Real Madrid.
“He wants to be the protagonist many times, he is fighting with the coaches or sometimes with team-mates. That record is a bit dangerous in my opinion.
“Players can change if the atmosphere is different and they find the right players and coach. In this case, it seems Zidane is keen on him and that could change his character.”
DONE DEAL?
Calderon believes Pogba’s decision to announce his wish to leave Old Trafford means a deal has already been struck.
The ex-Real chief said: “In my experience when the player has said it publicly it is because he has a specific offer, with salary, bonuses and everything, which he likes.
“Zidane has said publicly he wants the player and likes the player. He cannot say he is in touch with the player if he is.”
United insist Pogba is not for sale but value the 26-year-old World Cup winner at £150m.
Madrid have already spent £275m this summer in an attempt to rival Barcelona in Spain and compete for the Champions League crown.
Eden Hazard joined from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £150m, while Serbian striker Luka Jovic and French defender Ferland Mendy also arrived in mega-money buys.
And Calderon insists Madrid must sell half a dozen stars if they are to sign Pogba and comply with Financial Fair Play.
He added: “I am sure Man United is not going to let the player go with a low amount.
“We are talking above £150m which is a lot of money and I don’t know if we are going to pay that because the stadium refurbishment is going to take a lot of money and now we’ve spent around 300m Euros.

"So we need to sell at least 200m Euros to comply with Financial Fair Play.
“We haven’t sold any players, and that’s a problem. We need to sell at least five or six and none of them have accepted to go.
“All of them have been saying they are happy here. To leave Real Madrid is very difficult.”
