Chelsea wish Frank Lampard happy birthday on official Twitter account.. and fans go wild for their ‘new boss’
CHELSEA fans are desperate for Chelsea to hand Frank Lampard his dream birthday present as their manager-in-waiting turns 41.
The Derby boss, who is celebrating his big day today, is set to replace Maurizio Sarri in a move that will be hugely popular with the Blues faithful.
And when the club wished the icon a happy birthday on Twitter, supporters could not hide their joy.
One replied: "He's coming home".
While another added: "Just say he’s our manager already ffs."
And one cheekily wrote: "*Happy Birthday to our new Manager, Frank Lampard! Fixed it for you, you’re welcome".
Lamps posed with wife Christine in St Tropez as he closes in on the top job.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has his £380million superyacht Eclipse moored in the French Riviera resort, where the Blues legend is on holiday with his family.
The two men will hold talks which are expected to see former Chelsea midfielder Lampard confirmed as Sarri’s successor next week.
He has told some of his Derby players that he will go if Abramovich comes up with the right offer.
Lampard played for the Russian billionaire for 13 years and left as the club’s all-time record goalscorer. He is the fans’ overwhelming choice to become the new boss.
Chelsea will pay £4million compensation to Championship side Derby for the two years left on his Pride Park contract.
Abramovich has yet to make an official approach to the Rams but relations between the clubs are relaxed.
