MANCHESTER UNITED are growing increasingly confident they can seal a world record deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka within the next 48 hours, it has been claimed.
United have been chasing the Crystal Palace defender all summer and are closing in on an agreement with the London club over a package worth up to £60m.
But England under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd claims the speculation surrounding the move, which would make him the most expensive full-back in the world, has started to get to the player.
The report that United and Palace have scheduled a meeting to thrash out the finer details of the transfer, which is now thought to be inevitable.
It is suggested the full agreement will be in place by the weekend - although whether Wan-Bissaka, 21, will be able to complete the transfer immediately remains to be seen.
The right-back is currently on under-21 duty with England, where he scored an own goal in stoppage time to consign the side to defeat in their opening group match against France.
And boss Boothroyd admits the highly-rated youngster has shown signs of being affected by the talk surrounding his future.
Boothroyd said: "I think when you are nearly going to move and all the things that would
go through an older person’s head, who is more experienced in life, it would be difficult for them to cope with.
“For a young player who all he knows is the Crystal Palace academy, the Crystal Palace first team it would be daft not to say that in some way he must think about it.
“I would not be truthful if I told you anything other than that.

“What I will say is because he doesn’t say too much you don’t get to find out too much. Aaron keeps things to himself. He is a very private guy.
“But when that speculation is flying around it is bound to turn your head.
“Having said all of that had he not scored the own goal we probably would be having this conversation.”
