Arsenal target Kieran Tierney ‘keen on Premier League move’, Gunners legend Charlie Nicholas says
ARSENAL target Kieran Tierney is “keen” on a Premier League move.
That’s according to Gunners and Celtic legend Charlie Nicholas, who believes the left-back would be an ideal signing for Unai Emery.
Arsenal are looking to bring Tierney to the Emirates this summer and have already had a £15million bid rejected by the Hoops.
Emery has limited funds this summer but is willing to go back in for Tierney, with a £17.5m offer also being snubbed.
And his job could be made easier by the 22-year-old’s determination to play in England’s top flight.
Nicholas claims he has heard through the grapevine that although Tierney is a lifelong Celtic supporter, he would love the opportunity to showcase his talents in the Premier League.
And that means Arsenal have a real chance of securing his signature if they push hard enough.
Nicolas told Transfer Talk: “The stories I’m hearing here in Glasgow is that he might be keen to move on to the bigger league, if that’s really what it’s about.
“Would that make him a better player? Probably.
“There is a question mark about his defensive frailties but then again he would be an improvement for Arsenal, there’s no doubt in my mind about that.”
“Tierney is a fabulous footballer, but he’s got a lot to learn defensively and that’s the issue in value. So I think if Celtic got £20m they would take it.”
