NELSON'S COLUMN

Have Arsenal already got a £55m winger in Nelson as stats show he’s better dribbler than Zaha?

UNAI EMERY is prepared to blow his summer transfer budget on Crystal Palace superstar Wilfried Zaha.

The Spaniard is desperate to land the winger and is pleading with the Arsenal hierarchy to stump up the £55million required to land his signature, as SunSport exclusively revealed.

If he does land the 26-year-old, then there will be little cash to splash on other areas on the team that need improving.

But Emery may already have his own talented winger right under his nose.

Youngster Reiss Nelson has returned to the Emirates following his impressive loan spell in Germany with Hoffenheim.

The 19-year-old Englishman already has a message for Arsenal fans claiming they will "be shocked" by his progress since making his club debut two years ago.

And his stats prove he may just have a point.

Nelson managed seven league goals last season compared to Zaha's 10 but it's his minutes per goal where he really comes out on top.

The Arsenal man scored a goal every 90 minutes while it took Zaha 301 minutes to bag each Premier League strike.

Nelson also pipped Zaha to the number of successful dribbles per game with 48.5 per cent on average every match.

But the Arsenal teenager will need to make more goals for his team-mates if he is to hold a regular spot in Emery's side.

He failed to register one assist last season while Zaha managed five in total - although he did create more chances per game.

Arsenal's transfer budget was limited to just £45m following their failure to qualify for the Champions League last season.

It means the club will need to flog a number of their fringe players if they want to open the cheque book this summer.
