Brazil fined just £11,800 for homophobic chanting towards Bolivia keeper in Copa America opener during Pride Month

BRAZIL'S FA have been fined £11,800 after homophobic chanting from fans during their Copa America opener against Bolivia.

The vile taunts came during Pride Month as the LGBTQ community marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

South American football's governing body CONMEBOL dished out the penalty after Bolivian goalkeeper Carlos Lampe was abused on June 14.

Lampe heard the vile chants several times while he was taking goal kicks.

And the incident was repeated during the quarter-final clash with Paraguay.

Brazil's FA have been fined several times by Fifa over chanting in local stadiums.

Copa America rivals Uruguay  have also been fined £7,900 for a slow return to the pitch after half-time in a 2-2 draw with Japan.

Brazil will take on either Venezuela or Argentina in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

But the Samba Stars have been less than convincing without star man Neymar and limped into the last four.
