Barcelona ‘agree £15m five-year contract’ with Antoine Griezmann as he edges closer to £107m transfer
French forward has said he will reveal where he will go at the start of July after signalling his intention to leave Atletico Madrid
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has reportedly agreed a £15million-a-year contract with Barcelona.
The French forward told Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave at the end of last season, and he is poised to sign a five-year deal with the Spanish champs.
Barcelona have been waiting to agree a deal with Atletico as the player's release clause drops from £190m to £107m on July 1.
And is reporting that the 28-year-old has already agreed terms with Barca - though he looks set to earn LESS than he was earning at Atletico.
Barcelona are believed to be keen to offer a player as part of any deal to lower the cash amount.
In May Griezmann announced that he would be leaving Atletico Madrid after five years with the club.
UNITED HAVE HOPE
The Spanish club grew tired of the uncertainty over the playmaker's future despite only signing a new deal last summer - and effectively made his decision for him by telling him he could go.
That left Barcelona in prime position to snap up the 28-year-old Frenchman, having come close to clinching his services 12 months before.
Paris Saint-Germain have shown some interest, although they have financial limitations of their own in order to comply with the FFP regulations.
And Manchester United have also been linked with Griezmann as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set for a summer overhaul of the squad at Old Trafford.
SunSport reported how United are hoping to steal in for the striker as they prepare for Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku and current £89m signing Paul Pogba to leave.
