Man Utd given clear path to £70m Bruno Fernandes transfer as ‘Liverpool and Spurs pull out of running’ for Sporting midfielder
MANCHESTER UNITED have been left with a clear path to signing Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.
United have made the Sporting midfielder one of their main transfer targets this summer and are considering a bid of up to £70million.

Yet their hopes of snatching the brilliant Portugal international were threatened when it emerged Liverpool and Tottenham were also on his tail.
Both could offer Champions League football which United are unable to do for at least a season.
And both are better positioned to be able to mount a challenge for the Premier League next season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer begins an overhaul of his squad.
But the report that Liverpool and Tottenham have now distanced themselves from making a bid for the 24-year-old.
If that was the case it would leave United with a clear path towards trying seal a deal with Sporting to bring the highly-rated star to Old Trafford.
Fernandes has been likened to Frank Lampard in the way he has the knack of scoring goals from midfield.
He scored 32 goals in 53 games for Sporting last season, bettering the record of Lampard of 27 in the 2009/10 campaign.
And he also has the ability to create chances for his team-mates having been credited with 18 assists as well.

He is exactly the kind of player missing in Solskjaer's midfield, and if they are able to complete his capture it will be a major coup.
United have begun getting their transfer business done as they close in on the return to pre-season training this week.
Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have already arrived and the club are nore trying to press on getting other players in - with Newcastle's Sean Longstaff and Aston Villa's John McGinn potential options.
