NEW Anderlecht player-manager is trying to sign former Manchester City team-mate Samir Nasri, according to reports in Belgium.
The centre-back is said to be in the 'final phase' of discussions with the French midfielder, who is a free agent after his contract at West Ham expired.
Nasri played only six matches for the Hammers last season, after struggling to find fitness and form following his long ban for doping.
Kompany, who led his new players in their first training session together on Friday, is prepared to take a chance on the 32-year-old having played with him at Man City for five seasons, according to Belgian newspaper .
The pair won two Premier League titles and the League Cup together.
Kompany is also set to sign Meschak Elia and Arsene Zola from TP Mazembe, a club in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The 33-year-old said last month that his new side is capable of winning the Belgian title.
He said: "In one season we have to get better than five other teams.

"But I am convinced that with a few changes we will succeed."
Kompany added: "I do not want to choose between playing nice football or becoming champions. I want both.
"I know that I put so much pressure on myself. Let's be very clear, I didn't come here to be second."
