Barcelona announce Griezmann will wear No17 shirt as he is unveiled by club after transfer from Atletico Madrid
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN will wear the No17 for Barcelona after the Frenchman was unveiled by his new club after signing from Atletico Madrid.
The 28-year-old completed a £108million move to the Nou Camp - penning a five-year contract that includes a £720m release fee.
Griezmann was presented as Barca’s new signing on Sunday and revealed he will wear the No17.
It puts an end to speculation Brazilian Philippe Coutinho would surrender his No7 jersey for the French World Cup winner.
Griezmann now joins the likes of Emmanuel Petit, Mark van Bommel, Pedro, Alex Song and most recently Jeison Murillo, who have worn the number.
The prolific goalscorer joins French colleagues Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele.
But the prospect of playing alongside Ballon d’Or rival Lionel Messi has Griezmann relishing the upcoming season.
He said: “I’m looking forward to seeing what he's like on a day-to-day basis, in training.
"Playing next to him will be an incredible joy.
