GUNNER STAY

Nacho Monreal insists he wants to stay at Arsenal despite Kieran Tierney transfer pursuit

NACHO MONREAL insists he is happy at Arsenal despite the club making moves to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.

SunSport reported that the Gunners had already seen a £25million bid rejected to sign the 22-year-old.

But it is expected the Premier League giants will come back in with an improved offer.

However Monreal, who was rumoured to be on his way out of the Emirates, is staying put.

He said: “I belong at Arsenal. I have a contract and my idea is to continue playing for them.

“I am not worried about the size of the squad.

Petr Cech decided to retire and we’ve lost Aaron Ramsey, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Danny Welbeck.

“But I know the club is looking 100 per cent for players and I am sure they will come.”

CELTIC STANDING FIRM

SunSport understands Celtic have told Arsenal that they won’t accept an offer that includes various add-ons for Tierney.

The Scottish champions are open to selling the 22-year-old but want a £25m fee paid outright.

Arsenal are now expected to come back with a third offer for the talent as boss Unai Emery looks to plug a gap in the left side of his defence.

The Spanish manager has already had an initial £15m offer knocked back.

Arsenal remain confident they can land Tierney — and are ready to offer him a five-year contract worth £20m.

But the transfer fee remains a sticking point considering Arsenal's stingy £45m summer budget and Emery's quest to improve other areas of his squad.

Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha remains a big money target but Arsenal are ready to bide their time to see if the Ivory Coast winger forces his way out of Selhurst Park.
