PEP GUARDIOLA insists he is "so happy" with Manchester City's squad despite having just three centre-backs and no summer signings.

The Etihad chief is also "hopeful" of keeping Bayern Munich target Leroy Sane but is unsure if the Premier League champs will lose or gain any players before their opener at West Ham on August 10.

Guardiola told a press conference in China his players were struggling with "incredible jet lag" on tour, so he is "delighted" to mix it up by using young fringe players.

Club skipper Vincent Kompany has left to become Anderlecht player-manager, while neighbours United are favourites to land Leicester's £80million City target Harry Maguire.

But report Guardiola as saying: "We are so happy with the squad we have.

"I don’t know if the players here will stay or new players will come, but I am delighted with the players we have.

"We have three incredible central defenders and Fernandinho can play in that position.”

The Spaniard said of Germany wideman Sane: “Hopefully he can stay here and the next season, and the next season.”

City had little time to adjust to China as their flight from Manchester was twice delayed.

And ex-Barcelona and Bayern chief Guardiola seemed unclear on whether he welcomed the gruelling trip.

He added: “We try to sleep during the night. We want to survive.

"We have incredible jetlag. We cannot train, we need to keep energy for the match day.

"We are delighted to bring young players to play with the first team."
