INTER MILAN are pushing for a deal for Edin Dzeko which could plunge a move for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku into doubt, according to reports in Italy.
Lukaku is at the top of Inter boss Antonio Conte’s wishlist, although United are refusing to budge from their £75million asking price.
United are currently on a pre-season tour of Singapore and they face off against the Serie A giants later today, but Lukaku won’t feature.
Sun Sport exclusively reported that Conte is fuming over United’s valuation of Lukaku and he is refusing to pay over the odds for a striker who has become a peripheral figure at Old Trafford.
Instead, Inter, Calciomercato reports, are ready to strike up a cut-price deal for Dzeko.
The report claims that after talks stalled, negotiations have resumed and the Bosnian forward could join for a fee of £13.5million.
It is also suggested that Dzeko might not be the only player heading to the San Siro as Aleksandar Kolarov could also follow suit.
As far as Lukaku is concerned, the move would represent a surprise as Conte has not hidden his admiration for the Belgian hitman.
Earlier this week, he said: “You know I like this player.
"In the past when I was Chelsea's coach [from 2016 to 2018] I tried to bring him to Chelsea.
"As I said before, I like this player and consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement but at the same there is a transfer market.
"We know very well which is our situation at the moment and we will see what happens but for now Lukaku is a United player."
