Frank Lampard set for Chelsea squad headache as PSG withdraw transfer interest in Tiemoue Bakayoko
FRANK LAMPARD is facing a squad headache after Paris Saint-Germain have pulled out of a move for Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Blues boss has too many non-homegrown players in his team with the transfer deadline day fast approaching.
And that is leaving Lampard with a surplus of foreign players at Stamford Bridge.
Uefa rules require clubs to register no more than 17 non-homegrown players for the competition.
But Chelsea have just added American winger Christian Pulisic to their squad.
And the Blues have decided to make Mateo Kovacic's loan move permanent.
Therefore, some of Lampard's aces might be omitted from the squad for the Champions League.
Kurt Zouma, Michy Batshuayi, Davide Zappacosta and Kenedy are also in danger of missing out on Euro fixtures.
Lampard was hoping to ease the situation by offloading Bakayoko, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan.
Although his move now seems unlikely following PSG's withdrawal of interest in signing him.
Even though Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United were reported to have contacted Chelsea about the French midfielder.
