The club are based in Nanjing, population over six million, and they hope to make a formal announcement over the weekend.

But Bale, 30, is expecting a late offer from at least one other club with the Chinese window shutting on Wednesday night.

The mind-boggling offer is a three-year deal meaning it is worth over £150m before tax.

But the situation is a surprise ending in Spain for Bale who has been left out in the cold by boss Zinedine Zidane with the pair having not been on speaking terms for two years.

Bale did score in a friendly against Arsenal in midweek in America, a match Real won on penalties.

But Zidane said: “We hope he leaves soon. It is best for everyone.”
