Arsenal No2 Emiliano Martinez set to stay at Emirates despite interest from Leeds and Blackburn

EMILIANO MARTINEZ looks set to stay at Arsenal despite Championship interest.

The Argie keeper, 26, has hardly appeared for the Gunners and spent a lot of time away at various clubs.

Despite that, the pack chasing Martinez on loan have been told he is still needed at the Emirates.

Leeds and Blackburn were keen but neither can commit to a decent cash offer — and there are no good foreign offers — so Arsenal think he is better staying for now.

The Gunners waved goodbye to veteran stopper Petr Cech - who retired and returned to Chelsea as a technical and performance advisor.

As a result current Emirates first-choice keeper Bernd Leno was handed the No1 jersey.

Colombian David Ospina also left North London this summer.

The 30-year-old made his move to Napoli permanent having spent the season on loan in the Serie A last campaign.

Ospina was flogged for just £3million and Arsenal are yet to sign another keeper despite two departures in that position.
