Man Utd target Harry Maguire misses Leicester training after calling in sick as £80m transfer nears
MANCHESTER UNITED target Harry Maguire has MISSED Leicester training today - after calling in sick as he edges towards his £80million transfer.
The England defender, 26, has told Foxes chiefs he wants to leave the club this summer, with United mulling over their offer.
Now, Maguire has failed to turn up to the training ground this morning claiming he's under the weather.
United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is still deep in talks with Leicester regarding a move for Maguire.
The latest stumbling block appears to be in terms of the up-front fee.
The Foxes are hoping to secure more of the transfer monies up front - rather than incentive-based perks - as they don't believe United can qualify for the Champions League.
United had offered £72m with extra bonuses paid depending on what trophies they win and also securing a top-four spot.
No1 PRIORITY
Woodward missed his first pre-season tour in years in order to try to get a deal over the line.
But Maguire's latest stunt could be a hint he is willing to force his way out of the King Power Stadium.
It is said the England international called in this morning and was told he could spend the day resting.
Today is the first pre-season training session Maguire has missed, as he has worked professionally all summer, despite the raging transfer rumours.
Maguire is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's No1 transfer target this summer as he looks to bolster his defensive ranks.
MORE MAN UTD STORIES
Having already landed £50m man Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the Norwegian is desperate to add another homegrown star to his back-four.
Maguire fits the bill, with United turning their back on both Kalidou Koulibaly and Toby Alderweireld in order to focus on the Leicester ace.
And the Red Devils will be in even more of a hurry now, as they race to replace Eric Bailly, who was taken off on a stretcher in the 2-1 pre-season win over Tottenham.
