MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on their third signing of the summer after agreeing a £9million deal for Hannibal Mejbri, according to reports in France.
The midfielder, who is just 16, has been pushing for a move away from Monaco after his family became embroiled in a spat with the Ligue 1 outfit.
But the saga is nearing an end after United reached an agreement with Monaco on Wednesday, according to RMC Sport.
Refusing to let him leave for free, the club have held out for compensation given he had a contract to 2021.
Mejbri's dad, former Tunisian footballer Lotfi, cited an "issue of trust" behind his efforts to cancel the contract.
Their attempt to cancel the contract because it had "not been ratified properly" was nonetheless dismissed by the Legal Committee of the Football League (LFP).
And there were plenty of takers for the French youth international; Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Lyon also touted for bids.
The Reds, as well as Arsenal, were reportedly keen to sign Mejbri as a 14-year-old before Monaco first brought him to the Principality.
United's interest didn't emerge until January, when Monaco rejected an approach.
