Tottenham ready to hi-jack Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes transfer by flying official out to Lisbon for talks over £70m-rated Sporting midfielder
TOTTENHAM are ready to hi-jack Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes transfer by flying an official out to Lisbon for talks, according to reports.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for over £70million-rated Sporting midfielder for months but have struggled to agree on a fee.
The 24-year-old dropped a massive hint that his time in Portugal could be up after he cried following Marcel Keizer's sides friendly against Valencia.
But while it was rumoured that it was because he was nearing a move to United, Mauricio Pochettino is mounting a late push for Fernandes, according to .
The Portuguese broadcaster claims Spurs have sent a representative to Lisbon to negotiate directly with Sporting president Frederico Varandas.
Fernandes bagged 32 goals and grabbed 18 assists last season and the Primeira Liga side are remaining firm on the price tag for their captain.
RTP add that United are still interested in the player - but have admitted that the Red Devils are yet to have made a concrete proposal.
STORM BRU-ING
And Italian sports journalist Gabriele Marcotti suggested that he wasn't convinced a move to Old Trafford was on the cards for Fernandes.
Speaking on ESPN FC, he said: “This is a funny one because this has been ongoing now for three months.
“We hear from Portugal that ‘this is imminent, this is imminent, next 48 hours’.
“I just don’t see it happening at the prices that they’re throwing around, €70m-80m.
“I just think this is something where United, if they really wanted this guy, would have pulled the trigger on this earlier.

“But hey, if [Paul] Pogba goes, if Fred gets injured, whatever, could this all change? Maybe.
“But as of right now, certainly people here in England are pouring cold water on this.”
