CHELSEA fans have been sent into meltdown after Frank Lampard let Willian take Eden Hazard’s vacant No 10 jersey for next season.

The Brazilian claimed that he had been promised the number but Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic were also thought to be in the mix.

Hazard wore the iconic Blues shirt for five of the seven years he spent at Stamford Bridge before his blockbuster £150million move to Real Madrid.

But now Willian, who is entering the final year of his contract at Chelsea, has dropped the number 22 for the Belgian's old strip.

Pulisic, who was tipped to wear the kit after joining Lampard's side as Hazard's replacement, has instead taken over Willian's former jersey.

Hudson-Odoi had reportedly requested the number 10 during contract talks but Chelsea have confirmed he will continue wearing the No 20 for next season.

And suffice to say, fans are not keen on the club's new appointment, with many criticising Frank Lampard’s decision.

One harshly tweeted: "Wanted Willian out whilst Fat Frank bestows him the number 10? Shame we let him go. Miss you Sarri."

Another simply said: "Willian 10 = Disgrace."

One more added: "Can’t wait for kepa to outscore our new number 10. Even Lampard will probably do more than Willian."

But twitter user CFC Futbol theorised: "One year of Willian, then sell him next summer and whoever did better between CHO/CP gets the the number 10 or a new signing. Good choice."

Despite this supporters hope, Willian is reportedly set to pen a two-year contract extension at Chelsea.

The 30-year-old joined Chelsea in 2013 for £30m from Anzhi and has since won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one Europa League.

The midfielder has also been capped 69 times by Brazil, leading them to glory at the Copa America earlier this month.
