Fabian Delph injured just five minutes into Everton friendly as fans fear worst
FABIAN DELPH has suffered a nightmare start to his Everton career after he was forced to come off injured just five minutes into a friendly against Werder Bremen.
The England midfielder penned a three-year deal with the Toffees after completing a £10million switch to from Manchester City last month.
The 29-year-old made his debut in the goalless draw against Wigan Athletic but was picked from the start for Everton's last pre-season friendly in Germany.
However, after just five minutes Delph was replaced by Morgan Schneiderlin through injury and fans were already fearing the worst.
One harshly tweeted: "That's why he was only £8m...get what you pay for".
While another said: "Nothing new there then".
One more wrote: "Rain is wet, fire burns, Delph gets injured".
User Leigh Beach added: "This is what happens when you buy a injury prone player".
Marco Silva will be hopeful Delph's injury is not too serious as he was able to leave the pitch off his own accord but he was walking gingerly down the tunnel.
He now faces a race against time to be fit for Everton's opening game of the season as the Toffees travel to south London for the clash against Crystal Palace.
