VIRGIL VAN DIJK has finally been beaten off the dribble for the first time in 65 games thanks to a glorious piece of skill from Gabriel Jesus.

Not a single player was able to beat the giant Dutchman with the ball at his feet last season, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

But during the Community Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City, Jesus got the better of Van Dijk.

The skilful Brazilian, 22, saw the defender bulldozing his way towards him and jinked his way around him before passing on to Kevin De Bruyne to set up an attack.

The last time any player was able to get past the former Southampton star, 28, was in March last year, when Newcastle's Mike Merino managed the almost impossible.

Liverpool went on to lose the Wembley showdown to Man City on penalties, after Joel Matip had earlier cancelled out Raheem Sterling's opener.

PLAYING FOR KEEPS

And less than 24 hours later, Liverpool revealed they were selling Simon Mignolet to Club Brugge and replacing him with ex-West Ham stopper Adrian.

A video posted on Brugge's official Facebook page showed the keeper was already at the club to complete his transfer on Sunday night.

He jetted straight from the Community Shield final to Belgium to put pen-to-paper on a contract ahead of a medical tomorrow.

Mignolet was seeking a way out of Anfield in search of first-team football this summer.

The former Sunderland keeper was an unused substitute in the penalty defeat and now Jurgen Klopp will push hard to land a new No2 before the start of the new season.

Mignolet had been given an opportunity to impress in pre-season but had a howler in the 2-2 draw with Sporting Lisbon.

Liverpool were initially holding out for around £15million following Premier League interest from Crystal Palace.

But with Thursday's transfer deadline fast approaching, Klopp was keen to allow the keeper to leave for a cut-price fee.
