Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp brings in SURFER to help players deal with stress of Premier League
JURGEN KLOPP hired a professional surfer to help Liverpool's players deal with the stresses of Premier League football.
German board-master Sebastian Steudtner gave classes at the Reds' training camp in Evian after Klopp became aware of his success.
The move shows once again that Klopp will try anything in order to give his team an edge after becoming the first Premier League manager to hire a throw-in coach in Thomas Gronnemark last season.
WAVE GOODBYE TO STRESS
Liverpool's Champions League winning squad - including PFA Player of the Year Virgil Van Dijk - were said to be impressed by Steudtner and his techniques.
The 34-year-old German rode a 71ft wave at Nazure, Portugal in 2015 to claim his second XXL Biggest Wave award and recently claimed to have ridden a 95-footer at the same place earlier this year.
Despite their newly learned techniques, Klopp's side failed to prevent Manchester City winning the Community Shield for the second year running on Sunday.
The Reds drew 1-1 in normal time before Gini Wijnaldum missed the only spot-kick which saw City prevail 5-4 on penalties.
And the game saw Van Dijk dribbled past for the first time in 65 games thanks to a brilliant piece of skill by Gabriel Jesus.
Liverpool open their Premier League campaign against Norwich on Friday night.
