DAVID LUIZ is chasing an Arsenal transfer after being told he would not be a guaranteed starter under Frank Lampard.
The Gunners are looking to replace Laurent Koscienly and have reportedly agreed to sign the Brazilian, 32, on a two-year deal after agreeing an £8million fee.
Luiz missed Chelsea training yesterday in an effort to secure the deal and is claiming that a chat with former team-mate Lampard led to him wanting an exit.
Lamps will reportedly have no first-choice central defensive partnership at the club this season.
But only Kurt Zouma has had more minutes at centre back in pre-season than Luiz, amid claims the classy defender fell out with club officials.
Chelsea are unable to sign new players due to their transfer ban and are taking a risk by flogging Luiz.
But Lampard has four other central defenders to choose from in Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori, although Cesar Azpilicueta can also play there.
Koscielny's return to France left a hole in the heart of Unai Emery's defence which he will hope former Benfica star Luiz can plug.
