Giovani Lo Celso having Spurs medical ahead of £55m transfer from Real Betis
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR are putting Giovani Lo Celso through his paces in a medical this morning as he finally looks set to complete his move to North London.
The central midfielder is set to become a deadline day addition for £55million.
Arriving overnight, Lo Celso comes on the final morning of a long summer of speculation.
Mauricio Pochettino has been a long-time fan of the Argentine and watched him become the star man of a well-regarded Real Betis side.
In one season at the La Liga club, Lo Celso hit 16 goals in 45 appearances with a further six assists.
The midfielder, 23, is seen by the club as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, 27, who has declared his desire to leave the capital.
Spurs advanced their interest in him after failing to land Philippe Coutinho.
A loan deal with Barcelona for the wide-man was reportedly agreed on Wednesday, only for the club to be turned down by the former Liverpool ace.
Coutinho is said to have decided that only the Reds could tempt him back to England.
Spurs have made a number of big-money moves already this summer, namely signing Tanguy Ndombele for £65m.
However Paulo Dybala is not expected to sign on deadline day amid complications in his mega switch from Juventus.
