Liverpool cannot recall keeper Loris Karius from Besiktas loan transfer as replacement for injured Alisson
LIVERPOOL cannot recall Loris Karius from his loan spell as Jurgen Klopp's goalkeeping crisis deepens.
The Reds boss revealed that current No1 Alisson will be out of action "for the next few weeks" with a calf injury he picked up in the win over Norwich.
He was replaced by new signing Adrian who had joined the club just four days prior.
But with Simon Mignolet leaving for Club Brugge and third choice Caoimhin Kelleher sidelined with a broken wrist, Klopp needs to find a solution.
It was rumoured that Karius could be recalled from his stint as Besiktas.
The 26-year-old is in his final season of a two-year stint in Turkey and is likely to pen a permanent deal next summer.
And there is no clause in his contract that would allow Liverpool to recall the Champions League flop.
Klopp is likely to pursue a short-term deal for Andy Lonergan as back-up.
The 35-year-old is a free agent after leaving Middlesbrough in the summer and would provide experience on the bench.
When quizzed on Alisson's injury, Klopp told Liverpool's official site: "It’s not too cool. It’s a calf injury which takes him obviously out for a while.

"I saw already like ‘six weeks’ and stuff like this, but Ali was not a lot injured in his career so I would like to wait a little bit to see how he develops in that process now, but he is not in for the next few weeks.”
