As Juventus look to sign Christian Eriksen on free transfer: The best XI Sarri could snap-up for nothing in 2020 including De Gea and Cavani

JUVENTUS are rumoured to be lining up a 2020 summer swoop for Christian Eriksen when they can pick up the unsettled Spurs star on a free.

While Tottenham's main playmaker would prefer a move to Real Madrid, the Italian champions have form having recently brought in ex-Premier League stars Aaron Ramsey and Emra Can for nothing.

And following reports of Juve's planned summer raid, Spurs are said to be prepared to offer Eriksen £200k-a-week to prevent that from happening.

However, the Dane is not the only player whose contract runs out next summer.

With that in mind, SunSport has compiled the best XI that Maurizio Sarri could line up with in 2020 based on next year's biggest bargains.

DAVID DE GEA

The Spanish keeper, 28, recently agreed a six-year, £350k-a-week extension to his current Manchester United deal but he is yet to put pen to paper.

If next summer swings round and he still has not signed Juve could swoop for the stopper, who would certainly be an improvement on Wojciech Szczęsny.

ERIC BAILLY

After the Red Devils signed Harry Maguire at centre-half, Bailly's future at Old Trafford was cast into doubt.

He recently suffered a knee injury that is going to keep him out until at least September, by which stage his place in the United first XI could have gone.

Bailly, 25, could provide a ready made replacement for ageing Giorgio Chiellini if he made the switch to Turin.

JAN VERTONGHEN

Tottenham's star centre-back is another whose contract expires next summer.

And the Belgian has remained coy on an extension - leaving the door open for Juve to pounce.

Vertonghen, 32, said: "I just want to focus on this year. I know I have got one year left so I know a lot of questions will be asked."

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD

Vertonghen's centre-half partner at Tottenham was continually linked away from North London during the last window.

Spurs triggered a clause in the 30-year-old's contract earlier this year that means he is signed until next summer but holding on to him beyond that may prove tricky.

LUKA MODRIC

Real Madrid's Croatian maestro, 33, has a deal that runs until next summer and is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.

Recent reports suggested he was going to extend his Bernabeu stay by a year but if the situation doesn't change between now and June 2020, the Ballon d'Or winner could be snapped up by Sarri.

And what a signing he would be.

FERNANDINHO

The Brazilian, 34, has been a vital linchpin in Pep Guardiola's rampant Manchester City side in recent years.

But with his deal expiring next summer and new signing Rodri being selected ahead of him for City's opening day 5-0 drubbing of West Ham, the midfield general's time at the Etihad looks to be coming to an end.

DAVID SILVA

One of the greatest players of the Premier League era has already confirmed this will be his last year at Manchester City.

And while many expect the Spaniard, 33, to move to the lucrative Asian leagues next summer, he may be tempted by a big money move to Serie A, where he has never played.

WILLIAN

The wideman, 31, was reportedly set to sign a two-year-extension to his contract last month due in no small part to the transfer ban imposed on Chelsea by Fifa.

But Blues fans were enraged by the news and they took to Twitter to express their anger.

If he fails to sign a new deal, a reunion with his old boss Sarri could be on the cards.

EDIN DZEKO

Former Man City man Dzeko, 33, has had a successful spell at Roma but the veteran's time in the Italian capital looks to be coming to an end.

While the striker would no doubt struggle to get in at Juve ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, he could provide solid back-up if landed on a free.

EDINSON CAVANI

At 32, the frontman's best years may be behind him and PSG seem aware of that, given the lack of a new deal on the table.

David Beckham's Inter Miami are interested in signing the Uruguayan but if the step down in level appears to much for Cavani, a move back to Italy, where he enjoyed a successful spell with Napoli, may be just the ticket.
