ARSENAL are reportedly set to offload Shkodran Mustafi to Roma this week.
claims Unai Emery is prepared to let Mustafi move to Italy on a season-long loan with the view to a £23million permanent deal.
Mustafi’s future at the Emirates is uncertain after Arsenal completed a stunning £7m deadline day move for David Luiz.
The Brazilian and Sokratis will be the club’s first choice in the heart of defence this term.
While Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are both vying for places on the bench.
Roma are desperate for a new centre-back after selling Kostas Manolas to Napoli.
And Germany international Mustafi, 27, would certainly fit the bill at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma had been looking to sign Dejan Lovren from Liverpool instead.
The Croatian has fallen down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
And it was believed that a loan move was close to completion.
However, Roma did not want to pay the £26m fee Liverpool were demanding for the 30-year-old.

And they are now instead set to close on a deal for Mustafi, who could be paired with new arrival Gianluca Mancini at the back.
Roma have already been busy this summer, signing a number of players including Juventus left-back Leonardo Spinazzola, Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara and former Tottenham goalkeeper Pau Lopez.
The club are also toasting the renewal of Eden Dzeko’s contract after he snubbed a move to Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
