They have always maintained their rivalry since retiring and moving into media work, with the United and Liverpool legends constantly bumping heads.

But they decided to take the competition back onto the pitch for a sprinting race.

Anfield hero Carragher edged out former right-back Neville as Chelsea legend Terry watched his ex-England team-mates race.

The current Villa assistant manager couldn’t resist a dig of his own as he told the pair to “keep off the pitch” with a hilarious Instagram video of the dash.

It comes after Neville and Carragher had a familiar on-air disagreement about who they believe will finish in the top four this season.

They were united in their belief that Manchester City will win the Premier League and Chelsea will miss out, they have different teams completing the quartet.

It might not be a shock that Neville, despite his recent criticisms of his old club, has Manchester United making the group.

Meanwhile Carragher has plumped for Arsenal to be in there.

Neither pundit has Chelsea reaching the promised land but they both have Tottenham completing the awesome foursome.
