DANNY SIMPSON is being offered a shock way back into football by French club Amiens.
Simpson has been a free agent since leaving Leicester, where he won the title in 2016, with a move to Celtic collapsing.
Yet Amiens in Ligue 1 have come in for him after losing right-back Emil Krafth to Newcastle and they are now discussing terms.
Simpson wants around £30,000 a week and Amiens are considering stumping up to take him across the Channel.
He was in tears after saying goodbye to his Leicester team-mates and the club’s supporters.
Simpson said: “It was very emotional. Inside I was welling up but I don't really like to cry in front of people.
“Then privately...It was more when I was leaving the dressing room, leaving the stadium, saying my goodbyes.
SunSport reported how Premier League side Crystal Palace were also interested in the right-back.
Simpson was also reportedly on Brighton’s radar.
Palace were in the market for a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka who left for Manchester United in the summer and Simpson was a possible short-term solution.

It was a fairly quiet transfer window at Selhurst Park.
Hodgson did complete the signing of veteran Chelsea centre-half Gary Cahill, 33.
He was a free agent and made his debut for his new club in their shock 2-1 win at Manchester United on Sunday.
Cahill enraged United fans when he was fortunate to escape a red card, despite being the last man after fouling Anthony Martial.
The ex-Chelsea defender brought down United’s No9 after he was put through by Marcus Rashford.
