MESUT OZIL'S future at Arsenal is in serious doubt after he was snubbed completely by Unai Emery for the trip to Liverpool.

Ozil failed to even make the group who travelled up to Merseyside for Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Anfield despite being fully fit.

Boss Unai Emery did not believe the World Cup winner was worth a place in his plans for the biggest match of the season so far for his club.

And that has left Ozil, 30, facing up the fact he may have to leave the Emirates if he wants to be playing regular first team football this season.

Now the club's highest earner will be left considering whether he needs to secure a move within the next week or be left in the wilderness on the sidelines.

Ozil missed the opening week of the season after he and Sead Kolasinac were attacked by armed robbers in the street in London.

And despite returning to training, he suffered a slight injury which meant he was unavailable for selection for the win over Burnley.

But Ozil had been in full training last week and available for selection for the Liverpool game, only to be overlooked by Emery.

The Arsenal boss said before the game: "The players here are the ones we think were the best physically to play today."

The international transfer window closes on September 2, so there is just about enough time for Ozil to be able to find a new club if he wants out now.

Arsenal have been open to the idea of offloading Ozil all summer if they could find anyone willing to take him.

The chances of a permanent deal are limited, though, by the fact he is being paid £350,000-a-week and is in no mood to lose out on what he is owed.

That means a loan move would be the most likely, with the Gunners having to contribute potentially more than half his salary.
