Arjen Robben considering shock retirement U-turn as Bayern legend says: ‘never say never’

BAYERN MUNICH legend Arjen Robben admits he might reverse his retirement - if he "misses playing too much".

The ex-Chelsea, Real Madrid and PSV winger, 35, who won 12 league 12 titles and 96 Holland caps, said: "I always say: 'never say never'."

Robben, 35, quit Bayern last month after lifting the Champions League trophy once and the Bundesliga crown eight times during his decade with the German giants.

But he believes retiring was by far the toughest decision of his career.

And he told Dutch station : "Maybe in one or two months I'll have a strange feeling that I miss the whole thing too much and will decide I have to go back.

"But of course it doesn't get any easier the longer you're retired.

"I do not rate the chances [of returning] very highly."

Robben and France wideman Franck Ribery, 34, signalled the end of a generation for Bayern when they left the Allianz Arena together at the end of their contracts.

Leicester City were briefly favourites to sign the Dutchman, while old club PSV were also thought to be keen.

China and the MLS were rated other possible destinations for Robben.

But instead he confirmed his retirement.

He said at the time: "It has been 10 beautiful years. But it's time now.

"At the moment I am fit and healthy and as a fan of many other sports I want to keep it that way for the future. So I will definitely stop, but it is good that way.

"It is without doubt the most difficult decision I have had to make in my career. A decision in which heart and mind collided."
