ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI has signed a new contract at Bayern Munich.
His previous deal expired in 2021 but his extension means the Poland captain will stay at the Allianz Arena until 2023.
The striker said: "Bayern has become my home town. We also feel very comfortable as a family in Munich.
"I am convinced that we will achieve a lot in the next few years.
"FC Bayern is one of the three biggest clubs in the world and we have an outstanding team.
"I'm proud to be part of this club."
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich CEO, says: "For me, Robert is the best centre-forward in the world and has been a mainstay of our team for years.
"Therefore, we are very happy that he will play for Bayern for a long time to come. We are confident that with Robert, we will achieve our ambitious goals in the coming season and in the years to come."
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic added: "Robert has become a leader and is in the process of becoming such an important player for Bayern and his fans as Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben have been.
"I hope he can confirm his outstanding scoring record over the next few years. "
LEW HITTING THE HEIGHTS
Lewandowski, 31, joined from rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
In his five years at the club, he has scored 197 goals in 246 games, making him the club's third-highest scorer behind Gerd Muller and Rummenigge.
He has also picked up five Bundesliga titles, two DFB Cups and been the league's top scorer three times.
He is also the top non-German scorer in Bundesliga history, with 207 strikes for Dortmund and Bayern combined.
But the new deal means Lewandowski is unlikely to join the Premier League in his prime years.

The forward was linked with Manchester United in the past but has instead opted to stay in Germany.
Incredibly, he was close to signing for Blackburn Rovers in 2010 during his time with Lech Poznan in Poland.
But the volcanic ash cloud, following an eruption in Iceland, grounded thousands of flights and contributed to Lewandowski heading to Dortmund rather than Ewood Park that summer.
