Paul Pogba limps away from Man Utd’s draw with Southampton with ankle injury

PAUL POGBA capped a disparate display at Southampton by picking up an ankle injury.

As the Manchester United midfielder left St Mary's on Saturday he was evidently limping with a problem in his right leg.

He may have played the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw but Pogba twisted his ankle during the game and was moving awkwardly towards the end.

Not that it would have necessarily shown in his performance.

Fans were left aghast by Pogba's showing against Southampton, giving the ball away 13 times in the first-half alone.

In that period, he only exchanged two passes with central midfield partner Scott McTominay.

Fortunately, or not as the case may be, Pogba has a couple of weeks off before potentially missing any United games.

The international break sees France host Albania and Andorra in Euro 2020 qualifiers, making it very unlikely Les Bleus will miss the midfielder if unfit.

After that, United take on Leicester and Astana with six games in 19 days when club football resumes.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asserted that the Red Devils man will be available for France in the coming week.

He told reporters: "He twisted his ankle I think but he'll go away on international duty now and hopefully it's not too bad and he can play for France because I know how much he loves his country and playing for them."

Any question over Pogba making a late move out of Manchester before the European window shuts on Monday was quashed by Solskjaer after the game.

When asked post-game, the Norwegian simply stated: "Pogba will be playing for us."
