ARF CUTS

Free agent XI of players STILL available includes Ben Arfa, Wilfried Bony and Fabio Coentrao

THE TRANSFER window has shut across Europe but there are still plenty of well-known players left without clubs.

Many leagues allow teams to bring in free agents despite the market being shut.

And you can put together a pretty strong line-up from those currently out of action.

From Claudio Marchisio to Wilfried Bony, Sun Sport looks at which freebies can make up such a team.

DJOU YOU WANT ME?

A host of experienced defenders recently let go by their clubs are available to make up the backline.

Michel Vorm finished his stint as Tottenham's back-up after 13 league appearances in five seasons.

A move back to the Eredivisie could be on the goalkeeper's agenda with another ex-Spurs man, Younes Kaboul, up for grabs after leaving Watford at the turn of the year.

If the 33-year-old Frenchman is a throwback, old North London rival Johan Djourou is also a free man having left Serie A team SPAL.

After leaving Arsenal the Swiss centre-back, now 32, has been wandering Europe with spells at Hamburg and Antalyaspor.

Filling the full-back spots is less of a chore given double Champions League winner Coentrao and Danny Simpson, touted for a move to France after leaving Leicester, are currently without teams.

Many were surprised when Claudio Marchisio left Juventus in the summer and the Italian, recently linked to Monaco, is a shoe-in for this XI.

And at 35, Mile Jedinak can still do a good job in the centre of midfield having mustered 18 appearances during Aston Villa's promotion campaign.

Fittingly, the Aussie showed his penalty prowess with his final kick for the Villains, netting in their play-off semi-final shootout win over West Brom.

Pushing ahead of such a solid base could be Hatem Ben Arfa - the Frenchman left Rennes in the summer and is rumoured to be of interest to clubs in Italy.

HE'S OUR KEI

From one attacking midfielder who has enjoyed a career resurgence to another.

Keisuke Honda left A-League team Melbourne Victory having banged in eight goals from 19 appearances, keeping up a similarly impressive record from Pachuca of Mexico the year before.

Many feel the Japanese ace is past his best but, at 33, there is still one big move left in Honda.

Former Athletic Club hero Markel Susaeta is finally up for grabs after over two decades on the Bilbao side's books.

And while a number of clubs have been waiting for the Spanish winger to become available, albeit when in his prime, nobody can say they haven't had the chance to sign Bony.

The freebie Ivorian striker, recently linked to Brighton after training with Newport, has struggled in stints at Stoke and Swansea after a big move to Manchester City flopped.
